Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga…as the ever-effervescent lyrics from an upcoming “coming-of-age” movie make way to your heart, it also brings back to you, memories of the genius who penned this title track: Javed Akhtar. A man of many talents, he received the Filmfare award for Best Lyricist for 1942: A Love Story (1994).
It is believed that Javed Akhtar’s original name was Jadoo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javed_Akhtar. A poem penned by his father, the great poet Jan Nisar Akhtar, had the following lines, “Lamha, lamha kisi jadoo ka fasana hoga,” and therefore the name. He was named Javed as it was said to be the closest sounding word to jadoo.
