Remembering Khayyam: Classic Tunes You Can Still Use Today

Legendary Indian film music director and background score composer Mohammed Zahur “Khayyam” Hashmi recently passed away at 92 years of age. He was the musical genius who brought classical forms of music like the ghazal to mainstream Hindi films and created a standard few have been able to match. His six decades in Bollywood have given us memorable songs that can touch a chord with any generation. ‘Khayyam’ as he was popularly known composed soulful tunes to mostly romantic numbers, but the true measure of a classic is its ability to resonate with the human condition in general.
