With the film Kabir Singh being released this week, there is much anticipation about the story of a man’s journey through a life-changing heartbreak. We all know at least one person who totally lost their head in love (have you?). Well, Bollywood celebrities are not immune to the vagaries of emotional matters either. Here are a few celebrities who went through the dark passage of heartbreak and emerged stronger, better versions of themselves.
Kat opened up only very recently about her break-up with Ranbir Kapoor. Here is what she had to say: “I had to break before I could proceed to rebuild myself. I had to unravel and feel everything that had happened…I had to take full responsibility for my part in the equation, what I could and should have done better, and accept that the parts that I was not responsible for were not my problem. One thought that helped me when I was at my lowest was something my mom told me, So many girls and women go through the same thing, you feel you are alone, but you are not. That thought was very comforting.”(Source: www.hindustantimes.com)
Same guy, different lady. Deepika too suffered heartbreak at the hands of Ranbir Kapoor, but as we all know she came back stronger and with a compelling new love story with #DeepVeer
In an interview she opened up about her experience of heartbreak saying, “It was very, very difficult for me because, I think, somewhere that relationship became my world. I was new to the city, so his friends became my friends and that life became my life. And I don’t think I made the effort to have my own life. I think that relationship really taught me a lot, when it ended. It’s made me a better person today and he says it himself.”(Source: bollyspice.com)
PeeCee suffered her first heartbreak at the young age of 17, right before she qualified for the Miss India competition. We bet that boy is kicking himself even now! Meanwhile Priyanka learnt from the experience and raised her standards. On the subject of heartbreak she says, “It’s always a bitch, it’s always horrible, it’s always painful and it will always be painful for everyone. But you must realise what you want for yourself. I’ve set high standards for myself. And I don’t like to settle for anything in any aspect of my life, personal or professional.” (Source: www.filmfare.com)
Ex-beau to Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor famously remains tight-lipped about his failed relationships. However, in preparing for his role as Kabir Singh he enigmatically talked of channeling his own experience of heartbreak and the self-destructive phase he entered following it. While he throws around a story from high school when he was invisible to the girl he was crushing on as his first heartbreak, it is evident from the previews of his intense performance in Kabir Singh that there is another story he is not telling. In a separate interview he has spoken of being cheated on and being devastated as a consequence. Yet here he is now, happily married, proud father, and notable actor.
Varun Dhawan experienced his heartbreak in college when his first serious girlfriend of four months cheated on him. “I think I dealt with it okay; I’m a little dramatic – I’m an actor, after all – so I think I somewhere wanted to experience heartbreak anyway. There are supposed to be nine emotions, and you need to go through all of them to learn.” (Source: www.samaa.tv)
