Celebrating Onam with Kasavu Love Bollywood Style
The annual harvest and New Year festival of Onam have just begun in Kerala. It started on 1 September 2019 and will go on till 13 September 2019. The ten-day-long celebrations of Onam are one of the most exciting times to be in Kerala, each day has something fun lined up like boat races, martial arts, and dances. Onam is indeed iconic of the state we call ‘God’s own country’ and of its many beautiful customs, the traditional cream-and-gold handloom Kasavu saree that the women wear has made its mark on the beauties of B-Town as well. Until you can make your own way to Kerala to see the real beauties of Onam, here is a bevy of Bollywood babes modelling the traditional saree for you.
The champion of the saree and Indian handloom, Kangana shows us how to glam up the Kasavu with a sleeveless blouse with a deep square neckline.
Asin, the bonafide Kerala girl (and trained Bharathnatyam dancer) dresses up her Kasavu in the traditional style, with a modest gold brocade blouse and gajra in her hair.
Shilpa Shetty is gorgeous enough to get away with getting experimental with her Kerala saree but we are not sure everyone could pull off this fusion look that pairs it with a contrasting striped off-shoulder blouse with flounce sleeves.
Aishwarya retains the demure look, but she takes a departure from the textbook Kasavu to add a dash of colour and temple border pattern for her Indian goddess look.
Fashion chameleon Sonam shows us less is more with the naturally elegant Kasavu when you drape it right and accessorize minimally with a pair of jhumki style earrings. Of course, a hairdo with a twist helps too.
